Otherwise known as conjuctivitis, pinkeye refers to a condition affecting the eyes, causing redness and inflammation to that mucous membrane lining the surface of the eye and the eyelid. This part of the eye that’s infected in pinkeye is called conjuctiva.
This condition is more common than you think. But usually, it’s not that serious and can go away after a week without treatment. The most common causes include viral infections, bacterial infections, allergies, chemicals, fumes, smoke, and dry eyes either from exposure to sun or wind, or lack of tears.
