Smoking Slowly But Surely Kills You

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), smoking causes more than 430,000 deaths every year. That’s in the United States alone. It has been in fact pointed out by the U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare (U.S. DHEW) as the leading cause of death in this country.

These statistics are alarming. But why is it that there are still lots of people who smoke? That’s because the nicotine found in cigarettes is highly addictive. It makes it difficult for some people to quit this unhealthy habit. But no matter how challenging it can be, it is possible to stop smoking if you put your mind to it.
